Indicated For

The treatment of fungal infections where co-existing symptoms of inflammation e.g. itching, require rapid relief.
All dermatomycoses due to dermatophytes (e.g. Trichophyton species), moulds and other fungi.
All dermatomycoses due to yeasts (Candida species).
Skin diseases showing secondary infection with these fungi
The treatment of nappy rash where infection due to Candida albicans is present.

Pharmacology

H-Trimazole – Clotrimazole inhibits ergosterol synthesis, which leads to structural and functional impairment of fungal cytoplasmic membrane. Hydrocortisone, a weak corticosteroid with both glucocorticoid and to a lesser extent mineralocorticoid activity, has antiphlogistic, antipruriginous, antiexudative and antiallergic effects.

Dosage & Administration

Apply thinly and evenly to the affected area twice daily

Interaction

May reduce effectiveness of contraceptives.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the components of this preparation.

Side Effects

Allergic reaction (e.g. syncope, urticaria, dyspnoea, hypotension), blisters, oedema, discomfort/ pain, erythema, peeling/ exfoliation, irritation. Rarely, hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal axis suppression, cushingoid features, delayed wt gain/ growth retardation in childn, glaucoma, HTN, hyperglycaemia/ glucosuria, osteoporosis, cataract, increased wt/ obesity, decreased endogenous cortisol levels, steroid withdrawal syndrome.

Precautions

H-Trimazole – In infants, the napkins may act as an occlusive dressing and increase absorption. Treatment should be for a maximum period of seven days.

Rarely local mild burning or irritation may be experienced. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur
